Hi, I'm Alyssa

If you want to implement SEL and transform your classroom community, you're in the right place.

I help teachers who struggle with teaching social-emotional learning with my flexible SEL curriculum and resources that are easily incorporated into a busy classroom schedule. I support teachers who need help integrating SEL into their daily routine with resources and strategies to teach SEL in their classroom.

I know what it’s like to have a positive classroom community, and have students using SEL strategies and practice mindfulness

But it wasn't always this way...

I’ve been there before!

When Covid hit, the entire world of education shifted on a dime. The classroom as we knew it was gone and teachers started teaching virtually. That year changed education as we knew it forever. When the students were finally back in the classrooms I realized that the pandemic completely changed how they viewed school and the way they dealt with challenges and social situations.

The students I had in my classroom that year had never stepped foot into a school before, because they had started their school career completely virtual. These kids had never had to sit at desks, get in a line, or wait to go to the bathroom. They were new to being around other students and all of the challenges that go with social interaction. It was at this point in my teaching career that I realized just how important social-emotional learning was to students. At this time, my school did not have an SEL curriculum,m or allow any time in the school day for SEL to be taught.

I realized that if I wanted my students to learn these skills then it would be up to me and myself alone to teach them. Thus, Engaging SEL was born. I wanted to create an engaging curriculum that was easily integrated into the school day and could be incorporated into content areas. I wanted to give teachers like me the tools they needed to teach their students life skills necessary for their success without the hassle of spending hours on the internet looking up lesson ideas.

So if any of that sounds like you then you are in the right place! I have created my own Social Emotional Learning curriculum that is designed to fit into any classroom schedule with flexible lessons, resources, and activities to engage students and teach them valuable social-emotional skills. If you don’t know where to start with teaching SEL or your school does not set aside time for explicit SEL lessons, get my guide to integrating SEL into a busy classroom schedule to see my tips for integrating SEL throughout the school day.

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about me and my journey into SEL.

Mindfully yours,

Alyssa from Engaging SEL
